Jog/shuttle knob


A control knob (10) controls jog/shuttle operations on an audio/video payback/record device. The knob is formed of a cylindrical body (11) having an outer portion (12) and a face portion (16). that has convex and concave regions 18 and 20, respectively, integral with each other. The convex region (18) lies centered within, and surrounded by the concave region (20) and with the two regions joined with a smooth radius transition (22). The smooth radius transition (22) creates a topology that allows manipulation of the knob with only a small frictional force by a single finger of a user (not shown), thus allowing precisely rotation of knob to enter a jog mode at any angular position of the finger.
L'invention concerne une manette jog-shuttle (10) de dispositif de lecture/enregistrement audio/vidéo. La manette est cylindrique (11) avec une partie externe (12) et une face (16) ayant respectivement des parties convexe et concave (18) et (20), mutuellement intégrées. La partie convexe (18) est centrée dans la partie concave (20), et entourée par elle, les deux parties étant reliées selon un rayon de transition lisse (22), ce qui donne une topologie qui permet la manipulation de la manette par simple frottement au moyen du doigt (non représenté sur dessin). Il en résulte une précision de rotation de la manette pour l'entrée en mode jog, quelle que soit la position du doigt.
